Nyaungshwe is situated in the Southern Shan State close to the marvelous Inle Lake. Nyaungshwe lies about 130 km northeast of Naypyidaw and 16 km south of Inbawhkon. This destination is home to about 1,000 residents.

Nyaungshwe's climate is temperate and generally warm. Nyaungshwe has less rain in winter than in summer. The annual average temperature in Nyaungshwe is 21.4 ° C with the average rainfall of 1584 mm each year.

These days, Nyaungshwe has become a bustling tourist center with dozens of hotels and guesthouses, an increasing number of restaurants and bars. Inle Lake is one of the two largest freshwater lakes in Myanmar located on the mountain about 600 km from Yangon.
